In December 2025, 乐播传媒app最新版本 geology MS students Isaac Oyeniyi and Madison Tarpley and 乐播传媒app最新版本 geology professor Matt Herman traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana, to attend the American Geophysical Union 2025 Fall Meeting. Isaac and Madison presented their research鈥攑erformed as part of the CAL-EPIC program run by 乐播传媒app最新版本 geology professor Liaosha Song鈥攐n characterizing caprocks for hydrogen storage in Kern County. Dr. Herman presented his research on how fault interactions can dramatically enhance earthquake hazards.
Isaac says about his AGU experience:
The highlight of my conference experience was presenting my research poster to world experts. I explained the project to Dr. Harry Lisabeth from Lawrence Berkeley National Lab (a co-investigator on the CAL-EPIC project), who I didn鈥檛 realize was a collaborator! It was a surreal moment. I also discussed my research with Dr. Shuvajit Bhattacharya from the Bureau of Economic Geology at The University of Texas at Austin, who I learned was Dr. Song's (my MS advisor) classmate during their PhDs! Looking back at these moments made me believe growth often happens when we are pushed into unfamiliar spaces and trusted to always make the best out of any opportunities given.
