For our preliminary credential programs, undergraduate pathways IBEST for multiple subjects and ITEP for special education credentials provide early access to undergraduates preparing for careers in education. We have five subject matter waiver programs to provide pathways for single subject students (Art, English, Math, Social Sciences, and World Languages: Spanish). Representatives from each undergraduate program are members of the university Teacher Education Advisory Council (TEAC). Collaborative efforts between the undergraduate advisors and credential advisors allow for consistency in the pathways for applicants and admitted candidates.

Programs leading to an advanced credential or an added authorization follow a similar pathway to advise and assist candidates. Information sessions are held each semester to provide program guidance and support the application process. Admission committees meet regularly to review applications and determine admission status. The admission advisors send an admission status email to each applicant. Applicants may be fully admitted, conditionally admitted, exceptionally admitted, or denied admission. Applicants without full application submission packets are placed on hold and advised as to next steps by the admissions advisor.

Programs provide orientation for new candidates and offer the opportunity to meet with their advisor and connect with the placement coordinator to facilitate ease of course registration and clinical practice placements. During the program, faculty and staff are available via email, in-person, and during Zoom office hours. Faculty advisors for each program connect with candidates to complete and revise program plans and provide support. Each campus has a clinical practice coordinator who handles district placements and communicates directly with each candidate. University supervisors serve as the primary contact for candidates while in clinical practice placements. If a candidate is struggling in their program, an is created and additional support and guidance is provided to the candidate by the faculty member and program director. Candidates needing additional support and guidance while completing the CalAPA or CalTPA many contact the APA/TPA Coordinator for additional support as needed.

Completion of all credential requirements is verified at the program level by the admissions advisor. Candidates are contacted during their final term via email to confirm completion or to advise the candidate regarding any missing requirements. Candidates are advised to submit their completed applications to the credential analyst for final verification and recommendation for their appropriate credential.

EPP unit surveys are conducted during the first and final term of a candidate鈥檚 tenure in their respective program. Data from the are shared with the programs and during EPP meetings. Best practices are discussed between programs to improve recruitment, advising, and support.

Based on SB-820 flexibilities for educator credentialing, collaboration and support between 乐播传媒app最新版本 and our district partners for educator retention increased.
